Calling with a Text Message (SMS)

The simplest and easiest way to make a Dialstation call is to send a telephone number by text messages to our SMS Gateway: +49 176 888 25252.

Dialstation will call you on your phone, and then connect you to the number you sent.

TIPS:

  • 49 is the country code for Germany, when dialing from North America, dial 01149 to reach a German telephone number.

  • You can send the number as a plain text SMS, however you can also send a vCard (virtual business card) if your mobile phone supports this. Most Nokia phones allow you to send vCards.

Calling with Touch-Tone (DTMF)

Another easy way to call is to use Touch-Tone (DTMF) to dial the number. Simply call our Voice Gateway at +49 30 200 0903 and you will hear a dialtone. At this tone, dial the number you want to call and press # (pound). You will be connected within a few seconds.

TIPS:

  • A frequently asked question is "Wait a minute here! If I dial that German Number, my telephone company will charge me an arm and a leg!" Don't worry, if you call from outside of Germany, you will only hear a busy signal, thus this call will be free of charge for you. When you hang up Dialstation will call you back! and then you will hear the dialtone. Callback makes Dialstation usable all around the world!

  • When calling from Germany, the voice gateway does not ring Busy but instead your call is connected directly and you can simply dial your number and press # (pound).

Personal Direct Numbers (PDNs)

Although calling the Voice Gateway and then dialing a number at the dialtone is easy enough, for contacts you call frequently, this is a little cumbersome.

Dialstation Power Users use Personal Direct Numbers (PDNs) to make calls directly from the contact book in their mobile phone. Dialstation can take any international number and convert into a PDN, which is a special number that makes the call through Dialstation.

It is very easy to create a PDN for your frequently dialed numbers. And yes, you guessed it, THERE ARE 3 WAYS to add a PDN.

  1. You can use our SMS Contact Manager by sending a number as a SMS text message (or vCard!) to +49 176 888 30303. You will receive an SMS back containing the PDN, store this number in your phone and use it to call the contact you just added.

  2. You can also add a PDN using the Voice Gateway (+49 30 200 0903): Just dial the number from the dial tone as usual but instead of ending with the # (pound) key, end your number with the * (star) key and you will receive the PDN for your contact by SMS.

  3. Or, if you happen to be by a computer, simply log into your account at dialstation.com to manage your PDNs.

TIPS:

  • Just like the voice gateway calling a PDN from outside of Germany will be a free (busy) call and Dialstation will call you back when you hang up.

  • You are allowed to have up to 99 PDNs

  • Sending the PDN back to the SMS Contact Manager (+49 176 888 30303) will delete it. You can also delete PDNs from the website.
